CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

“CAD Analyst is the only intuitive tool that presents graphically persuasive evidence of the department’s performance. When Fire Chiefs need monies to secure equipment and redistribute resources, CAD Analyst provides persuasive reports for both equipment and personnel resources.” - Chief Roy Hamlin, City of Miami Fire Rescue Dept.

CAD Analyst and ADAM: FAQ's

Interface and Configuration

Will CAD Analyst and ADAM applications work with our existing CAD?
More than 90 emergency services departments across the United States and Canada use CAD Analyst and Fire/EMS ADAM which are compatible with a wide variety of CAD, including those offered by prominent leaders in the industry.

CAD's with which these applications have interfaced:

Intergraph PSSI
TriTech Home grown
Tiburon Printrak
PRC Systems House
GEAC
Deccan performs the initial functions in converting the CAD data to a format usable by its applications.

Do the applications need AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) data to run?
While AVL data is not required to run CAD Analyst/ADAM, Deccan can use the AVL information to calibrate ADAM. ADAM can derive better time distance relationships from historical data by using the more accurate unit locations derived from AVL information.

How many years of CAD data are required to build CAD Analyst/ADAM for the Fire Department?
We typically recommend that the department provide us with two years of CAD data. CAD Analyst and ADAM are both built using the raw data from CAD while the other applications such as LiveMUM and BARB directly interface with the CAD.

System Requirements

What are the hardware specifications for use of the applications?
All applications are tailored to the client’s data for the service area and are usable only by that client. However, the applications can now run on top of a mapping software called MapInfo. Whenever CAD Analyst and ADAM are installed, MapInfo must also be installed. Please contact MapInfo Corporation for pricing information.

CAD Analyst/ ADAM applications are for Modeling and Analysis purposes and require a significant amount of processing power and large RAM. The hardware specifications are:

Desktop Computer:
800 Mhz Pentium III processor or better
512 Megs of RAM
Minimal 20G Hard Drive
21" Monitor

Laptop Computer:
500 Mhz processor or better
256 Megs of RAM
Display capable of 1024x768 resolution
(...assuming that the Desktop computer will be used for the analysis and the Laptop for presentations.)

The processor and 512MB RAM are needed to ensure that re-deployment analysis can be completed quickly for a new scenario. A deployment analysis session could typically generate over 40 scenarios. The 21" Super VGA monitor is needed to display the entire response area without scrolling.

Pricing and Procurement

What factors determine the pricing for the applications?
TThe pricing is scalable and depends on the following:

  1. Number of stations
  2. Square miles of coverage
  3. Annual call volume
For departments with between 4 and 11 stations, Deccan offers a special version of the applications called CAD Analyst Lite and ADAM Lite. These applications, while providing most of the capabilities of the full CAD Analyst and Fire /EMS ADAM software, do not require the same comprehensive analysis criteria as do larger departments with more stations. As a result, the cost of the LITE applications are less.

Deccan recommends providing the CAD and the Map data in a pre-specified format in order to avoid additional programming costs for converting a department-specific format to a usable form.

Support and Maintenance

What support program is offered by Deccan?

Services provided under Deccan yearly maintenance plan includes:

  • Two downloads of data from the CAD every year
  • All upgrades of Fire/EMS ADAM
  • Technical support for one year
  • All documentation changes associated with the upgrades
  • Two re-generations per year of distance tables to reflect street network changes
  • Two re-calibrations per year to incorporate protocol and/or workload changes
