About us
Deccan International’s mission is to provide the powerful tools Fire & EMS leaders need to make the right decisions for their communities. We create smart, easy-to-use software that takes the guesswork out of managing Fire & EMS services.
Deccan International was founded in 1995 by Latha and Raj Nagaraj. It began when Raj was working for the government of the District of Columbia, where he was tasked with improving the metropolitan police department’s handling of 9-1-1 calls. Raj proposed substituting consulting reports with an unprecedented map-based station and apparatus analysis tool. District Fire Chief Otis Latin began testing Raj’s proposal to explore alternate scenarios for his own department. Impressed with the results, Chief Latin invited Raj to present at the Metro Fire Chief’s Conference where the tool was successfully embraced. Fire chiefs nationwide asked if such a tool could be built for their own agencies. With the encouragement of first responders in both Fire & EMS, Raj and Latha soon launched Deccan International. Deccan not only offered modeling software analysis tools for Fire & EMS departments, but also performed consulting and project management, through which first-class client support quickly became the company’s trademark.
